Nicholson is doing well in Canberra. He can now take take feeds orally and his nasogastric tube is out. He is able to handle his medication which is being reduced slowly and is continuing to improve.
Nicholson can now sit up comfortably and is beginning to play.
He arrived from the Solomon Islands in January for surgery to remove a rapidly growing abdominal teratoma (a germ cell tumour). Following treatment in Canberra he was transferred to Paediatric Intensive Care at Sydney Children’s Hospital for further major surgery and other treatments. His condition slowly began to improve and he was able to transfer back to Canberra once he was well enough. Earlier post on Nicholson and other ROMAC children here.
Mariam and the Eastern District ROMAC team continue to monitor the progress of our children served by the program. More updates will be posted as they come in.

ROMAC is run entirely by volunteers and all donations go directly to the care and medical needs of the children. Most of our surgeons give their time free of charge and Ronald MacDonald House provides accommodation at a reduced rate. Since 1988 over 540 children have been treated. Every day Rotarians and Friends are providing funds to cover travel, accommodation and treatment for children and their carers. But if we had more donations we could help more children.
