We were pleased this week to welcome Kateryna Argyrou, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in NSW and Co-chair of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO). Kateryna addressed Mosman Rotary members on the state of affairs and in particular the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Also attending were Diahanna Senko, Director of the AFUO and Director of the Ukraine Crisis Appeal and two veterans of the conflict known by their military handles, Nazar “Kapa” and Victor “Blacksmith”.
The soldiers were in Sydney for medical treatment to help rehabilitate serious injuries sustained in the fighting (see this post for more information )
The Club co-Presidents Halyna Koscharsky and Ruth Thompson presented a cheque to Diahanna as a humanitarian donation for the purchase of a portable ultrasound for a children’s hospital in Ukraine. Funds were raised by a community raffle organized by Ross and Therese Webb and generously supported by Mosman local businesses and the community.
