Kirsty Nancarrow is an award-winning former ABC journalistwho grew up in Sydney, spent 10 years in Alice Springs, 2 years in London, and has called Cairns home since 2010.
Kirsty founded Women in Media Far North Queensland and has been a passionate advocate for journalists, social justice,and gender equality throughout her career. Kirsty is now a media trainer and the Co-Director of eMotion Video Training & Production. Kirsty wrote her first book, Himalayan Dreams: The Story of Som Tamang after a life-changing visit to Nepal following the 2015 earthquakes. Som was a child slave in Nepal and has devoted his life to protecting girls in his village from sex trafficking and early marriage through his Cairns-based organisations, Friends of Himalayan Children and Take on Nepal
