Cr Ann Marie Kimber, Mayor of Mosman, spoke to club members this week. She shared some details of her background and how she came to be the Mayor as part of a wider talk on life lessons in leadership.
Ann Marie sees leadership as having courage and grit when making hard decisions. It involves listening and communicating with kindness – “followership” – with teamwork and bringing out the best in those around you. Her leadership skills have been honed in both her career and in sport. Ann Marie studied
nursing, then an MBA which led her into strategy and customer-facing roles in healthcare and engineering businesses both overseas and in Australia. After being elected Mayor of Mosman, Ann Marie admits that she has learned more in a year than ever before.
While living in the USA, Ann Marie volunteered as a paramedic, where she learned a lot about herself and helping people under pressure. Back in Australia she set up an AI business with her husband. That knowledge and experience should benefit the council as it starts to integrate AI into its operations.
Her influence spreads further than Mosman with the walking group she set up for new residents to get to know the city still thriving after 18 years.

We also welcomed previous Mayor, Carolyn Corrigan. Carolyn was recently recognised with the metropolitan Elected Representative Award for outstanding accomplishments to advance the position of female elected representatives.
