The Foreshore Walk and Bicentenary Trail was a project of our club at the time of the bicentenary. It was designed to give disabled access to what then was a rough patch of foreshore land. The level path ran from the parking area next to the boat shed to the end of the immediate foreshore. It then became a more rugged walking track to a local landmark, Pupil Point. Whilst the foreshore itself has improved over the years the wheelchair friendly path has deteriorated and custom designed tables have been removed.
President James led a small team (Liz, Mark A, Pickles the dog, Rob, Ross, Dieter, Blair and Derek) to discuss the possibility of refurbishing the trail with local historian Stephen Palmer. Apart from refreshing and/or creating signage we will need to supply new tables and work out how to differentiate the trail from the biking path which now runs alongside the path. There should also be an opportunity to provide improved signage to the trail to Pulpit Rock.
