RYPEN Sponsorship Dorian

It gave me great pleasure to introduce Dorian, our RYPEN student for this year to the Club.

Dorian is Erika’s great nephew and he currently attends Mosman High – grade 10. Prior, he attended Beauty Point Primary School,

His best subjects this year were Philosophy and Mathematics, but the family is most proud of his achievement in English.

At mid year he achieved 2nd best in his class, quite special when one considers that English is his second language.

His parents are very appreciative for the excellent and supportive schooling Dorian received at his Mosman schools.

Dorian found the RYPEN winter camp an altogether uplifting and fascinating experience and he thanks the Club for his making this experience possible. .

Special thanks to your Club Secretary PP Graeme Robinson for initiating his application and to the Club members for their sponsorship.

PP Dieter Beck

MONDAY’S SPEAKER - CHRIS IRELAND ON LIFE AT GREENWAY, KIRRIBILLI

What is the role of Social Housing in Kirribilli, and why should we care? Internationally acclaimed photographer Christopher Ireland gives us an insight into the circumstances that lead people to Social Housing.

Exploring the stories of some of the Greenway Residents, Chris questions a widely held myth that people bring circumstances upon themselves, presenting a complex, intimate and personal account of life as told by his subjects. Chris’s project aims to increase the connections between all members of this great community through his photography.

Chris is a Sydney based commercial photographer and artist. As well as shooting ad campaigns for Uber, Telstra, Canon, Samsung and The Australian Defence Force, Chris uses photographic exhibitions to raise our social awareness of emotionally sensitive issues.

BEACH2BEACH CHARITY RUN - 27 AUGUST 2023

Rotary Clubs on the Northern Beaches are preparing for this year’s Beach2Beach Charity Fun Run on Sunday 27th August.

With three starts – at Dee Why (13km), Warriewood (6km) and Mona Vale (3km) – the event is open to everyone, from serious runners to families with strollers.

All events end at Newport Beach where the Newport Community Festival will be held.

The course along the Northern Beaches provides spectacular scenery along the way.

All entry costs for the Beach2Beach go to support charities, schools and organisations who help run the event, including the Surf Life Saving Clubs, Rural Fire Service and SES.

The generosity of our major sponsors United Resource Management (URM) and the Harbord Diggers make this possible. As well, competitors use the event to raise funds for their own causes.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Warringah which is newly formed from the merger of the Rotary Club of Brookvale (which organised the Pub2Pub and now Beach2Beach for 29 years) and the Rotary Club of Dee Why Warringah.

To enter go to beach2beach.com.au
