The Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP) is one of the CPA’s most popular programmes and brings together participants aged 18-29 representing the nine CPA Regions – Africa; Asia; Australia; British Islands and Mediterranean; Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic; Canada; India; Pacific; South-East Asia.
The week long Commonwealth Youth Parliament provides a key development opportunity for young people from the Commonwealth with ambitions of public office and is designed to demonstrate to potential future young Parliamentarians the fundamentals behind the processes of Parliament.
The CYP gives participants a Pan-Commonwealth experience and a hugely valuable networking opportunity with other participants from across the Commonwealth as well as with current Members of Parliament from different jurisdictions who act as mentors throughout the week. The CYP offers participants an opportunity to experience one of the key institutions which underpin democracy and good governance.

In November 2022, Vivienne represented Australia as a member of the 11thCommonwealth Youth Parliament held in Trinidad and Tobago. Delegates were required to fund their own travel and trip expenses. Mosman Rotary made a contribution to offset some of the cost and member, Martin Fallows, assisted with the travel arrangements.
Vivienne is a student of politics and former youth climate activist. She is incredibly passionate about engaging young people in democracy to help create this better future that entails more diverse representation and greater accessibility to democracy. Her interest in how parliament and policymaking works has motivated her in previous work for the office of Zali Steggall MP and the Australian Electoral Commission.

It’s been a long few weeks missing PP Dom at our meetings while he has been in Royal North Shore with a few medical issues. This week we had brilliant news from PP Di:
Dear Friends – against all odds, Dom returned home late this afternoon – he has dodged Rehab by ‘walking the wards on his walker’ for the past week and managing to get back to his normal weight with the help of a fresh croissant and strawberry jam every morning….he still needs lots of rest, and we have Community Nurses twice a week here at home beginning this Friday….just wanted to let you know, and once again to thank you for your love, care, thoughtfulness, and support over the last four and a half weeks.
On behalf of our club President Mark has arranged some get well flowers.
Both Di and Dom are very grateful for everyone’s support, messages, thoughts and prayers. They look forward to Dom being well enough to see us all at club meetings as soon as he has fully recovered.

PP Derek and exchange student Marco took advantage of the Easter Holidays to attempt the 30km coastal track running through the Royal National Park. It takes around 1 hour on the train to Cronulla and then 30 mins on the Ferry to get to the start point at Bundeena. Then a steady 2 hours walk to Marley beach. By that stage it was 12.00 and we still had around 20km to go with some significant descents and ascents before we got to Otford. In the end we decided that discretion was the better part of valour and decided to turn back. Maybe attempt the full walk another time starting from Otford and ending in Bundeena

WE have successfully registered a project with RAWCS which means that any contribution made will be eligible for a tax deduction.
The project is run by Timor-Leste Rotary Alumni to purchase building materials to enable them to construct a pre-school with their labour being supervised by a professional builder. School running costs will be covered by the Timor-Leste Education ministry and also by income from onsite agriculture and aquaculture projects already set up and running by the RYLA alumni.
