BeyondWater is a not-for-profit organization working across East Africa. Our focus is on ensuring schools, medical clinics, childrens home and remote communities have access to safe, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities. These include deep bore wells, guttering, water tanks, hand washing facilities, toilets and health education programmes.
|
BeyondWater is registered as a trust both in New Zealand and Kenya, and as a charity in Australia.
|
How We Got Started. In November 2007 Pete and Sharon Crean were living in Sydney, Australia. They were presented with the fact that one billion people don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water and another two billion don’t have the use of a toilet. They gathered a team of volunteers who were enthusiastic in doing something to alleviate poverty in East Africa and started BeyondWater.
|
10 years on we have been able to give over 100,000 people across East Africa sustainable solutions and a way out of poverty.
|
And don’t forget to book for the special presentation of Mike Munro on June 19th:

PP Rob Sturrock has rescued the numerous Flags we received from visitors to our club. A fine example is the flag from the Rotary Club of Cranleigh England. It’s been going now for over 50 years and according to its website:
Cranleigh Rotary is part of a national and international organisation whose primary aim is to offer a wide range of social, educational and financial support to local and other communities and organisations.
Over the past 50 years we have arranged many fund-raising and entertaining events, such as street collections to help Ukraine, for example, and ever-popular quiz competitions in the Village Hall.
We meet twice a month, usually on a Thursday evening, for both a pleasant dinner and entertainment by a variety of interesting guest speakers, or we might play skittles or petanque, or simply engage in pleasant banter.

Here's our wonderful exchange student Marco with Barry Starr from Mosman club. Marco is thoroughly enjoying the convention and is lucky to have the opportunity. But even better he was a flag bearer in the opening ceremony and had the honour of carrying the Canada flag, the flag of our International President Jennifer Jones. Jennifer came up to Marco and had a chat and Marco politely asked who she was. This is gold! Apparently she laughed and told him she was the leader of RI. Love this!

And here’s a photo of Marco carrying the flag!!
