Letter from Maya Jankovic Team Leader Community Care Mosman Municipal Council

Goodbye from me and new connection for Mosman Rotary Club

Dear Halyna (Halyna Koscharsky Youth Director Rotary Club of Mosman)

I just wanted to let you know that after 6 ½ years of service as Team Leader Community Care, I am leaving Mosman Council and am heading off to Woollahra Council to become the Community & Cultural Development Coordinator.

I have so much to be grateful for. I have worked with my team to build an incredible suite of programs for some of our most vulnerable clients. Programs that build connection, provide care and support when people have none and programs that enable our older residents to thrive. Rotary Club of Mosman and our Remembering When Book and Art Exhibition Project have been such an instrumental part of it all.

I am going to miss this wonderful and vibrant Mosman village and its community. It has been a pleasure collaborating with you. I am sure our paths will cross again!

Halyna, I also wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to Alexandra Tierney, our new Community Connections Officer. She is working on some wonderful projects with the community and would like to connect with you and Rotary Club of Mosman.

All the very best

Maya

Chatswood Roseville Rotary Club Meeting Tuesday 25 October - Guest speaker - Ken Hutt - Fly from Everest for End Polio Now 6:30 pm

Three climbers from Ken's team succeeded in reached the summit  to flourish the End Polio flag but without  Ken who at Camp 2 suffered a life threatening pneumonia at about 6400 metres (21000 feet) and had no option but to climb back down to base camp. Two members of the group had to be airlifted  to safety on their descent. One in seven people don't survive their attempts at Everest  Three people died while the group was on the mountain.

We would love to have your Club or members join us. Please bring family and guests to hear Ken.

Ken's visit has been targeted for our meeting as the day after World Polio Day. Recent news indicates that the battle to eradicate polio is far from over.

This an ideal opportunity to recognise Ken's incredible courage in undertaking and leading the expedition for the End Polio campaign for which he has raised over $250,000.

Attached is a flyer to promote Ken's visit. The flyer includes two QR codes which provide a link to an ABC News article on Ken's 2022 attempt and another  to his earlier expedition in 2014 to Cho Oyu. Below is another link to  an article from the ABC TV News in late May this year on the expedition which you or your guests can copy into the browser.
