Monday’s Speaker - Chris Waugh, National Center for Childhood Grief

National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG)

The NCCG is a Sydney-based charity dedicated to supporting bereaved children aged 3-17 years after the death of their parent, sibling or other close loved one. Since 1994 the NCCG has provided free specialist care to thousands of Australian children. Their services include individual counselling, group programs, adventure camps, parent support and outreach to schools, hospitals and other community organisations. Close family bereavement is one of the most traumatic experiences of childhood, significantly impacting a child’s mental and physical health, education and social connection. 1 in 20 Australian children will experience the death of their parent and many more the death of a sibling – 10,000 children each year – yet specialist support services are rare, expensive and hard to access. The NCCG was founded to address this critical gap in Australia’s preventative health care system. The charity relies on community donations to fund its free community services with minimal support provided by government.

Presentation of OoZoO’s from PP Richard’s year

PP Rob presenting PP Richard with his personal copy of the PRESIDENT’S YEAR BOOK 2020-2021 – a marvellous memento given to all our Presidents, with a further copy held at the Mosman Library.

A big thanks to PP Rob Sturrock for his time and effort in continuing this tradition.

Donation to Guide Dogs NSW

Sydney Airports recently requested that we treated the proceeds of our airport collection boxes in December and January differently than usual. Instead of using the funds to support our exchange students we agreed that these be donated to Guide Dogs NSW.

Bary and Kazuhiro recently emptied the boxes with the proceeds of $564 being deposited into our Project bank account. This amount has now been transferred to Guide Dogs NSW.
